Medical complications from addictions cost $133 billion per year to treat in our country (National Institute on Drug Abuse). Compllications include cardiac arrest, irreversible kidney and liver damage, AIDS, fetal harm, cancers of the lung, bladder, breast, pancreas, larynx, liver and mouth and more.
Addictions inevitably wreak havoc on the addict's life as well as their family and loved ones. The addicted person may lose their job, their family, their friends, and their interests. They lose self-respect and self-esteem. They are unable to become all that they could be.
There is help for those who are addicted and there is more than one way to recover. Frequently underlying problems must be addressed (e.g. depression, attention-deficit disorder, social anxiety) in order for the person to maintain abstinence.
Because I am a licensed psychologist as well as a licensed alcohol and drug counselor I can do a thorough assessment that looks at both the substance use or addiction and any related mental health problems such as depression, or other underlying issues.
I would like to help you (or your loved one) regain your free will over your addiction so that you may regain your quality of life.
